Epoxy Crack Repair

crack repair
Cracks in floors, doors, and even walls can be caused by a variety of factors. Around here there are plenty of issues with the soil that make it literally an enemy to all sorts of structures. Still, cracks can start to form if we over-stress the surface that we walk or drive on. It’s important to fix these cracks before they start breaking off even further and look more like lunar craters! One of the quickest and most effective ways to fix cracks in floors and walls is to use an epoxy solution.

What Is An Epoxy Adhesive?

An epoxy adhesive is a chemical compound that is used to fix cracks and breaks along concrete or other types of surfaces. It can do that because of the chemical properties that it possesses. Epoxy starts out in a liquid state and can be easily applied on cracks through what we can an epoxy injection. A lot like foam injections epoxy can first be applied to a crack thoroughly. After it dries up it hardens and sticks to the surfaces that it was applied to. It can literally bring two broken pieces of concrete back together.

Epoxy Or Foam Injection?

One of the other services we offer that is similar to epoxy injections is polyurethane or foam injections as we call them. We get asked a lot what the difference is between both treatments. Overall both are ways to treat and seal cracks in concrete or other types of surfaces. The main differences that set them apart are durability and flexibility. Epoxy when dry typically turns into a harder surface and can be used to put two broken pieces back together for a longer period of time. Some people even make entire floors out of epoxy and they can last a long time when used in interiors. Epoxy though has to have the right conditions to be able to harden properly and work efficiently. Foam or polyurethane injections can be used in wet, muddy, and overall difficult areas where you need cracks filled or fixed. They are usually not as durable as epoxy but are a lot more versatile in that they can be used on a variety of surfaces and conditions.

Long-Term Use Of Epoxy On Cracks

When applying an epoxy solution to a crack chances are you will be able to drive or walk through that crack without a problem for a long period of time. The problem with epoxy though is that it usually more difficult to use on crack that has already been sealed before. So generally it serves very well as a one time fix that can last an extended period of time, but if the crack forms again then it’s time to look for some other solution!

When Do We Recommend An Epoxy Crack Repair?

People tend to gravitate towards epoxy crack repair because it is durable and can put off major renovations for quite some time. We will mainly agree with them in that regard. Just like most of our crack repair services though we would typically also recommend that you give us the opportunity to perform a larger check up to find out what’s really causing the crack!
